Pheidole dentigula is a common ant found in mesic forests. They are usually quite obvious when sifting leaf litter in rich southeastern forests and can usually be identified in the field by the tendency of the major workers to have orange colored gasters. These are relatively small Pheidole , with strong rugoreticulation on the occipital region of the head, usually even in the minors.
