Overview
Extracted from Joel Gardner. "The mining bees of Minnesota (unpublished manuscript)"

Andrena cressonii is the only species of Holandrena in North America. It is very easily recognized by the weak, but obvious pronotal angle and ridge, the extremely short and wide labral process, and the shiny tergum with distinct, crowded punctures. Often, the hind tibia is orange or reddish. The male has a wide head with yellow clypeus and paraocular areas, and the apical margin of S6 is strongly reflexed. Andrena cressonii may be confused with Scrapteropsis or Trachandrena due to the strong punctation of the tergites, but the aforementioned characters will readily separate it.
